India says Putin won’t attend G20 summit

India’s Ministry of External Affairs said on Monday that Russia’s President Vladimir Putin will not be able to attend the G20 Summit in New Delhi on September 9 and 10.

New Delhi stated that Putin informed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during their phone call earlier in the day that Russia will be represented by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at the event.

„While expressing an understanding for Russia’s decision, PM thanked President Putin for Russia’s consistent support to all initiatives under India’s G20 Presidency. The two leaders agreed to remain in touch,“ the Indian foreign ministry stated.

Putin, Modi discuss cooperation in space sector

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed future cooperation in the space sector, the Kremlin press service said on Monday.

According to the statement, Putin „warmly congratulated“ Modi „on the successful landing of the Indian space station Chandrayaan-3 on the Moon.“

At the same time, both leaders expressed their willingness „to further develop bilateral cooperation in the space sector,“ the statement concluded.
